Meggabox kindly gifted me their first monthly box to try out so I’m super excited to show you what’s inside and share my thoughts!

Each box contains a one month supply of six top of the range products designed to remove plastic waste from your bathroom.

Eco living – Eco cotton buds

The first item that caught my eye when I opened the box was these Eco cotton buds by the brand Eco living. Cotton buds were a form of bathroom waste that I had never considered before so I am very excited to incorporate these into my routine and cut out the use of plastic from the conventional cotton buds that I was using before. What’s great about these particular ones is that they are made from 100% fair trade organic cotton and recycled paper which makes them easily compostable after use.

Megga soap and shampoo bars

The founders of Meggabox also produce 2 of the products in this box themselves which is an amazing touch! The Megga soap (which is honey & vanilla scented) and the Megga shampoo bar (which is coconut & argan infused) Transitioning to shampoo and soap bars was one of the biggest steps I made towards becoming plastic-free in my routine. Both of these products look and smell amazing and have some great natural ingredients too! These 2 bars are exclusive to Meggabox so sign up now to get your hands on these!

Cosy cottage – Conditioner bar

This conditioner bar was handmade in Yorkshire by a brand called Cosy cottage. Its cocoa butter and sweet orange infused and smells good enough to eat! I have never tried a conditioner bar before but have been on the lookout for one for a while, I have recently dyed my hair so this could be just the thing I needed to restore some life, I’m really looking forward to trying this out.

Bamboo toothbrush

If you have been reading my blog for a while you will know that I made the switch to bamboo toothbrushes some time ago. My current one is coming to the end of its life span so this one has come at a great time as a replacement. One amazing difference with this particular one is that the entire toothbrush is biodegradable, many bamboo toothbrushes still have plastic bristles that must be cut off and recycled before disposing so to find one that eliminates that unnecessary plastic is great to see!

Switching to a bamboo toothbrush is a really simple swap that significantly decreases your bathroom plastic wastage so I think this is a great thing to get in a box whether you are just starting your low waste journey or have been at it for a while.

Eco living – Toothpaste tablets

The final thing in the box was these Eco living toothpaste tablets with fluoride. I was really intrigued by these as I had never seen something like them before. They come in a small metal tin and you simply chew the tablet until it turns creamy and then brush your teeth as normal. I had to try these out as soon as I saw them, they were really easy to use and I got on with them fine! I had a quick look on the Eco living website and you can also purchase refills of the tablets with the option of fluoride free too! I also thought these would be a great zero waste travel essential too as they don’t take up any room and you won’t have to worry about liquid restrictions either.

Overall I was extremely impressed with Meggabox’s first launch. All of the products were things that interested me and that I would genuinely buy for myself. I was also pleasantly surprised to find a few items in there that I had never thought of before but will definitely be adding to my routine to reduce my own environmental impact. Having been signed up to subscription boxes in the past, I can confidently say that Meggabox is my new favourite in terms of the quality of the products inside and the fact their brand aligns with my values too.

I 100% recommend this subscription to everyone and I think its a fantastic way to give yourself (or someone else) a great gift every month while simultaneously helping the environment. There’s no better time than lockdown to take some time to pamper yourself and switch up your self care routine to benefit yourself and the planet,  Meggabox is the perfect way to do this!
